What you get
Your Own Wine Encyclopedia is a reference work for wine study, written and maintained for candidates preparing for the Master Sommelier examination. A subscription gives you full access to the online edition:
- Every chapter — grape varieties, viticulture, vinification, and region by region across the world's wine countries.
- Interactive appellation maps, down to village, cru and single-vineyard level where the source material allows.
- Practice quizzes and spaced-repetition review built from the same text.
- Your own private notes, highlights and flags, kept in sync across your devices.
- Continuous updates. A printed copy freezes on the day it is printed; the online edition does not.
Access is for one person. The subscription is for individual study use.

Founding Member rates are open to new subscribers while we are still building out the later chapters. A Founding Member rate is an introductory rate: it applies to your first billing period — the first month on a monthly plan, or the first year on an annual plan. After that, the subscription renews at the standard rate shown above. We will give notice on this page before Founding Member rates close.
All prices are in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT is calculated and shown at checkout where it applies, and is added to the price above. Payment is taken by Lemon Squeezy, our authorised reseller (see Payment and billing below).
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription; see Cancellation and refunds. A paid plan has no trial period — billing starts when you subscribe.
Payment and billing
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record for all our orders, which means your purchase contract for the transaction is with them. Their own documentation states: "Lemon Squeezy acts as a merchant of record", and their terms describe them as "acting as your non-exclusive reseller of the Product via Lemon Squeezy Checkout". Lemon Squeezy collects and remits sales tax and VAT where it is due, and the charge shows on your statement as LEMSQZY rather than under our name. We never receive or store your card details.
